Description Some boards you use. This one you fly. The Canadian flag, rendered in end grain hardwood — not printed, not stained on the surface, but built from the wood itself. The maple leaf is a true inlay, cut and set by hand into a field of pale ash and flanked by solid walnut bars. Stood on its little Manitoba maple stand it reads as a flag; laid flat with a wheel of cheese and a sharp knife, it’s the centrepiece of the table. It’s cut to 20 × 10 inches — the real 2:1 proportion of the Canadian flag, not an approximation — and built 1.75″ thick in end grain, the construction that takes a knife edge for decades and keeps coming back. Rubber non-slip feet underneath for the cutting days; the maple stand for the display days. Made one at a time in Virden, Manitoba, from Canadian hardwood. There is exactly one of these — when it ships, it’s gone.
