Dark cinnamon brown, maturing to golden brown and pale yellow. Surface dry, with persistent remnants of universal veil on the cap. Flesh white, soon bruising bluish green where damaged. Stem: 200 mm long, pale yellowish to buff. Flesh bruising bluish green where injured. A persistent membranous annulus from the partial veil may become dusted with purple-brown spores at maturity. Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish in young fruit bodies, becoming dark purplish brown to nearly black as spores mature.
