Huautla is a classic Mexican Psilocybe cubensis strain from Oaxaca, near Huautla de Jiménez. This region is internationally known through its connection with María Sabina, R. Gordon Wasson and the wider history of mushroom ethnomycology in the Sierra Mazateca. The Huautla strain was collected by Club99 in this historically significant region. Many months of isolation resulted in the selected mushrooms behind this catalog strain. Habitat: bovine and equine dung, and enriched soils Climate: subtropical Origin: Oaxaca, Mexico, near Huautla de Jiménez Cap: around 50 mm in diameter, obtusely conic to hemispheric. Yellowish brown, maturing to light yellow. Surface dry, with few remnants of universal veil on the cap. Flesh white, soon bruising bluish green where handled or injured. Stem: 150–275 mm long and yellowish. Flesh bruising bluish green where injured. Persistent membranous annulus from the partial veil, becoming dusted with purple-brown spores at maturity. Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish coloration in young fruit bodies, becoming nearly black at maturity. Spores: dark purplish brown, subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia.
