Psilocybe cubensis Nepal Chitwan is a distinctive Himalayan-region cubensis strain traced to original collection material obtained by Baerbel in the village of Sauraha near the Chitwan Jungle of Nepal. The collection history describes three specimens found in otherwise dry conditions, around three months after the typical mushroom season, shaded by a nearby tree and apparently growing from elephant or rhinoceros dung. Nepal Chitwan is a great addition to collections already containing distinct prints such as Argentina, Corumba Brazil and Oak Ridge. Habitat: bovine and equine dung, enriched soils and large-herbivore dung Climate: subtropical Origin: Nepal, Chitwan Cap: 20–70 mm in diameter, hemispheric and expanding to nearly plane with age. Golden brown, maturing to light brown. Fine fibrillose veil remnants may be present when young and soon mostly disappear. Flesh yellowish white, soon bruising bluish green where damaged. Stem: 150–200 mm long, typically equal and sometimes slightly enlarged at the base. Yellowish to buff with a reflective sheen, semi-hollow, and bruising bluish where handled. Remains of the partial veil may persist. Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed. Yellowish in young fruit bodies, becoming darker as spores mature. Remnants of the partial veil may remain attached at the outer edge of the cap. Spores: dark purplish brown, subellipsoid, produced on 4-spored basidia.
