Spores are supplied as spore prints on heavy foil. Each print is individually packaged and prepared for clean, stable storage. Spore print size and density may vary by species and variety. Psilocybe cubensis Oak Ridge was originally collected by Jeetered from equine dung near Oak Ridge, Tennessee, about five miles west of the Y-12 National Security Complex. The location is part of the collection story only and should not be presented as having any residual radiation association. Oak Ridge is notable because it represents a more northern, cooler-condition cubensis collection compared with many familiar tropical, Gulf Coast and subtropical cubensis origins. Habitat: equine dung and enriched soils Climate: subtropical, with notable tolerance for cooler conditions Origin: Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA Cap: 25–100 mm in diameter, hemispheric to convex, expanding to broadly convex to nearly plane with age. Dark red when young, maturing toward golden brown. Fine fibrillose veil remnants may be present when young and soon disappear. Flesh white, soon bruising bluish green where damaged. Stem: 150–200 mm long, typically equal, sometimes slightly enlarged at the base, and occasionally contorted. Yellowish to buff with a reflective sheen, hollow, and bruising bluish where handled. The partial veil is membranous and leaves a persistent membranous annulus that can become heavily dusted with purplish-brown spores before fully separating from the cap. Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish in young fruit bodies, becoming dark purplish brown to nearly black as spores mature. Spores: dark purplish brown, subellipsoid, around 13 × 8 micrometers, produced on 4-spored basidia. For other US-origin cubensis print options, compare Treasure Coast and Purple Mystic. For most popular cubensis print options, see Golden Teacher and Tidal Wave. More cubensis print options are available in the Cubensis Spore Prints category.
