Psilocybe cubensis Treasure Coast is a classic Florida cubensis strain associated with the southern Gulf Coast of the United States. The name is commonly connected with Florida’s Treasure Coast region, a coastal area known for barrier-island shorelines and historic shipwreck treasure. Treasure Coast is as a recognizable older catalog strain favored both by beginner and more advanced microscopists for its stability and consistency. Habitat: bovine and equine dung, and enriched soils Climate: subtropical Origin: Florida, Southern Gulf Coast, USA Cap: 15–50 mm in diameter, convex to broadly convex, becoming plane at maturity. Brown, maturing to golden brown to light yellow. Surface dry, with a few small remnants of universal veil on the cap. Flesh white, soon bruising bluish green where damaged. Stem: 50–125 mm long, yellowish. Flesh bruising bluish green where injured. A persistent membranous annulus from the partial veil may become dusted with purple-brown spores at maturity. Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish in young fruit bodies, becoming dark purplish brown to nearly black as spores mature.
