Psilocybe cubensis Ecuador is a classic South American cubensis strain and one of the better-known geographic cubensis names. It is often shortened to “EQ” in community discussions. Ecuador is a long standing name in our catalog and it is because of its historical significance, reliability and consitency. For over 20 years it is in our personal top 3 of South American varieties. Habitat: bovine and equine dung, and enriched soils Climate: subtropical Origin: Ecuador, South America Cap: 50–75 mm in diameter, convex to broadly convex, becoming plane at maturity with an obtuse umbo. Dark reddish cinnamon brown, maturing to golden brown. Surface dry, with pronounced and persistent remnants of universal veil on the cap. Flesh white, soon bruising bluish green where damaged. Stem: 200 mm long, pale yellowish to buff. Flesh bruising bluish green where injured. A persistent membranous annulus from the partial veil may become dusted with purple-brown spores at maturity. Gills: attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish in young fruit bodies, becoming dark purplish brown to nearly black as spores mature.
